Shamanic Support
Shamanic practices can be a wonderful addition to the work you are already doing and the support you are already receiving on your healing journey. We can use the shamanic arts to address any challenges you might be facing, be they:
- Mental
- Physical
- Emotional
- Spiritual
How shamanism works
The shamanic practitioner enters a trance state (in my case, via a rapid drumbeat) to journey to the spirit world, then works with their spirit guides there who perform the work on behalf of the client. Because our world is intricately intertwined with the spirit world, or “otherworld,” the work done in the spirit world spills over into our current physical world.
The shamanic practitioner acts as a “hollow bone” to be the conduit of the healings performed by the helping spirits and the information they provide to the receiver of the healing.
What shamanism can support
- Trauma recovery – even PTSD and C-PTSD
- Breaking harmful patterns
- Reconnecting with lost parts of yourself- soul retrieval
- Ancestral healing
- Past life healing
- Restoring lost power
- Mind-body-soul alignment
- Phobias
- Identifying and expressing your unique gifts with the world
What info you need to share
First, it is important to know that I treat all client interactions with privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA); I do not share any information with anyone else unless you give me permission. So you can share as much as you like, or as little…I just need enough detail about the circumstances of your challenge to share with the helping spirits so they can do their work.
Here are some examples of starting points:
- “Ever since x happened, y and z are happening (or NOT happening even)”
- “Ever since x happened, I have not felt like myself”
- “There’s a pattern in my life where x happens all the time no matter what I do”
- “There’s a pattern of x that runs on my mom’s/dad’s side of the family and I want it to end"
- “I’m struggling with this big transition (new job, personal loss or loss of relationship, moving career change, etc)”
That’s all we need to get going!
What to expect in a session
All sessions take place online via zoom, for your convenience and so you can receive a recording of your session.
Most sessions unfold in four phases:
- Sharing the story of the challenge (just enough to get the basic idea)
- Identifying the origin
- Transforming the origin circumstances and providing spiritual support
- Integration and homework

My shamanic lineage- Core and Celtic Shamanism
My main lineage of Shamanism is Celtic Shamanism, based on Celtic mythology and surviving Earth-based and polytheistic traditions primarily from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Tom Cowan wove these aspects into the basics of Core Shamanism to create Celtic Shamanism. My Celtic teacher Jane Burns studied with Tom Cowan as well as other Celtic Spirituality teachers.
My first teacher Maria Gharakanian also studied with Tom Cowan…in fact much to my delight I realized Maria and Jane attended their very first training with Tom Cowan together and were roommates! Maria and Jane were both students of Sandra Ingerman. Jane practices primarily Celtic Shamanism and Maria practices primarily Core Shamanism.
Core Shamanism is a form of shamanism founded by Michael Harner in the 1970s to re-introduce Westerners to their ancestral earth-based spirituality practices, as opposed to learning in the living indigenous traditions in South and Central America as well as in Native American communities in the United States. The trance state is induced by the drum and the practitioner builds out their circle of spirit helpers individually, as opposed to practicing with set animal or nature spirits as is common in living indigenous traditions.
I honor and am deeply grateful for all the wisdom keepers and beings throughout the world and across lineages who have carried and passed on these sacred teachings through the millennia.
